Q.

Where does the weight go??!!

Now this is probably going to be the weirdest question you have been asked, but as my old school teacher once told me, "no question is a stupid question if you don't know the answer". So here goes: I have so far lost over two stone in weight. Where has it gone? Does it go when I sweat, when I go to the toilet or is there a much more logical explanation? Sorry if everyone knows the answer to this but I don't!

Our expert says...

Well maybe we should get a "weirdest question" section going! I award you the title for this week!! So here goes, here's the answer... Basically when you consume fewer calories than your body needs, your body turns to fat as an energy source, which is broken down to energy through a series of complex processes. Your body uses up this energy for every sort of body process (for breathing, moving, detoxification, using your brain etc. etc.). But the waste products from these processes are water and carbon dioxide, and this where you were on the right track because the water you excrete primarily through urine and sweat, and carbon dioxide by exhaling. I hope this helps answer your question adequately!
