What is your opinion of Slimming World?

I wondered what you thought of the Slimming World diet where you can eat as much "free food" as you like - on green days you can eat as much pasta, rice, potatoes as you like, on red days you can have as much meat, fish as you like. How can you possibly eat as much of those foods as you like if you are going over your calorie intake? They say that you are so full on these foods that you don't want to eat as much and start to serve yourself smaller portions???? I have tried it and lost weight in the past but I found it quite restrictive and not a long term solution. Would appreciate your comments.

Slimming World clearly works for some people but it does need to be used in conjunction with a developed awareness of what it means to feel full. If you were to just keep eating and eating (especially on red days) you could indeed eat more calories than you burn up and would therefore put on, rather than lose, weight. Having said that, the foods that you are allowed to eat a lot of, are filling for their calories, so many people are successful with this system. If it's combined with knowledge about portion control and understanding hunger and satiety cues it can work. However never be fooled that you don?t have to watch calories - you do! This is why the food diary method with a calorie limit is the ultimate for so many people who have tried everything else before it!
