There are mixed reviews on the effectiveness and safety of this supplement. While some animal studies have shown that the active ingredient in this supplement can stop our bodies from making fat and can possibly suppress appetite, studies in humans have not shown that this translates into significant weight loss. The few studies that have shown an effect have resulted in weight loss of only around 2lbs more than using traditional weight loss advice.
There are certain side effects associated with taking this supplement such as dizziness, headaches and an upset stomach. Some studies have also found an association between Garcinia cambogia and liver damage.
At present this supplement has not been approved for safe use, as there is insufficient evidence to establish it’s effectiveness and possible side effects. If you are considering taking it I would recommend you have a chat with your GP first as this supplement could interact with any medication you may be taking.
