I've just recently started toning tables. is there any way you can find out how many calories are burnt during a 60 minute session? Many thanks, Kerry
I actually would avoid considering toning tables/beds as a form of exercise.
Toning table salons were first introduced to the UK from America in the late 1980's. Since then, the number of salons has steadily increased. As the population ages, toning tables are expected to become a core piece of equipment in all gyms and salons throughout the UK but more for the purpose of relaxation and well-being then physical fitness benefits and weight loss.
With this in mind the actual calories burned are essentially negliable and also difficult to compute as the machine moves you and effort is minimal. I would strongly recommend you actually avoid counting toning table activity within your diary and just see it as a bonus as its use will not drastically influence your calorie equations and so is not worth including.
I would strongly recommend you ensure you achieve the recommended 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise (even if it's 3 bouts of 10minutes walking) a day, but ideally some structured aerobic exercise to strengthen the heart and circulatory system and count these calories within your diary. There is no substitute to cardiovascular exercise and weight training (strength) exercise for physical well-being, endurance, stamina and strength.
Hope this helps
