Do you have any good recipes for sirloin steaks? I always do dinner for me and my man, and although he is being highly supportive, I don't just want to keep giving him 'safe for me options' all the time, nor do I want to cook two meals (plus too tempting if I make a full on meal for him and something less exciting for me).
Any suggestions welcome. I am happy to cut a smaller portion of steak for myself and give him the extra as well. Even if it's just a few mouthfuls!!
I quite understand the fact that you don't want to cook two meals at night, nor do you want to place your other half on an enforced diet! The trick here is to adapt and amend meals that fulfil both your requirements.
Sirloin steak is higher in calories and, in particular, fat than, for example, white meat like chicken, so you do need to adjust your portion size accordingly. 100g of grilled, lean sirloin steak is approx 213 kcals and 12.6g of fat. This compares to the same weight of chicken breast (without skin) providing approx 148 kcals and 2.2g fat. So, if you eat half of this sirloin steak, the calories become a very respectful 106 kcals and the fat a more manageable 6.2g. You will just need to keep your eye on the overall fat content of the rest of your diet on this day.
You can also minimise the fat by buying a lean cut of steak and then trimming any remaining excess fat off at home. Grill your steak, along with lots of vine tomatoes, mushrooms and maybe strips of peppers and serve with a large side salad. This should look and taste delicious!
