Can drinking hot water and lemon increase weight loss?

I've heard that drinking hot water & lemon juice first thing in the mornings will speed up weight loss. Is this true?

Unfortunately there is no evidence that I am aware of to support this. It is a shame, as it would be so much easier if speeding up weight loss could be this simple!

However, hot water and lemon first thing in the morning can have other benefits. It is quite cleansing for the digestive tract, helping clear any build up of mucous that may have occurred overnight, and it can also stimulate the liver. This can help get your bowels moving first thing in the morning if they are sluggish! Some people find it a very refreshing way to start the day and, as it is a very low calorie drink, you could always give it a try and see if you like it.
