I recently read that you shouldn't eat wholemeal bread,Is that right or is white bread best? Look forward to your reply.

There are always stories in the media about certain foods being bad for you, however in the case of wholemeal bread this isn't the case. Wholemeal bread offers advantages over white bread (which incidentally isn't bad either) because it contains wholegrains and extra fibre. This all helps with a healthy digestive system, plus wholegrains have been shown to be beneficial for heart health, and protective against some other conditions such as type 2 Diabetes and some cancers.

A healthy diet should include foods from all the food groups, with an emphasis on choosing lean proteins, low fat dairy foods, complex carbohydrates (including wholemeal/ wholegrains) and lots of fruit and vegetables.

Bread contains calories whether it's wholemeal or white bread, so always record the bread that you eat in your diary to ensure this doesn't have a negative impact on your calorie counting.
