Q.

Why am I sick when I'm hungry?

Please help....I can never seem to feel full, I can quite easily keep eating for several hours...most days I can control the urge but it does get quite hard. I can eat breakfast around 7, but by 9 I feel empty and sick, if I try to ignore the feeling and resist eating I am physically sick. Is this normal? help!! It?s not uncommon that you might struggle with curbing your appetite or controlling cravings when you?re following a calorie controlled diet. This may especially be the case when you are eating a high GI (glycaemic index) diet that leaves your blood sugar seesawing. High GI foods are largely the more refined carbohydrates like sugary foods, white flour products etc. which tend to be digested and release sugar into the system very quickly. Could it be that you are eating something like corn flakes or other high GI cereals that s the reason for you feeling so empty stomached again so soon? If so, try something like eggs. grainy bread or porridge for breakfast instead and eat low GI foods through the day to keep hunger at bay What disturbs me though is that you actually get physically sick and vomit if you do not eat. This is unusual and I think warrants medical advice. I?d therefore urge you to have a chat about it with your GP.
