Our expert says...
Hi,
Thanks for your question.
Foods which keep us feeling fuller for longer tend to be foods high in fibre and protein. If you're specifically trying to eat low sugar/low fat foods too, these foods would be good choices:
- Vegetables - especially leafy greens and things such as celery and cucumber which have a high water content.
- Beans and pulse - these are high protein and high fibre, but very low fat.
- Skinless chicken and turkey - high protein, low fat.
- White fish - high protein, low fat.
- Wholegrain foods such as wholegrain rice, wholemeal bread, wholewheat pasta, quinoa and wholegrain cereals such as weetabix/shredded wheat - high in fibre and a good source of protein.
- Low fat greek/natural yogurt and low fat milk - high in protein, low in fat, but these do contain a type of sugar called lactose, but this isn't like the added sugar found in things like cakes and biscuits.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes
