Trying for a baby, any diet tips?

I am currently trying for a baby and am about 12lbs overweight for a BMI below 25. I am currently trying to be as healthy as possible and if I lose weight on the way - fantastic! I have set my calorie allowance to enable me to lose 1.5lbs a week. Do you have any tips on what I should be eating? I am mainly vegetarian but have been trying to introduce fish and chicken back into my diet (eating fish requires a lot of effort for me!).

It sounds as if you have the right approach for a woman who is hoping to get pregnant. 12 pounds isn't very much overweight and should you get pregnant, obviously, I?d advise you stop trying to lose weight and go back to eating 2000 calories a day. In the meantime try to eat a balance of foods including starchy foods, protein, dairy, and lots of fruit and vegetables! Oily fish is important , but if you really hate it, look out for omega-3 fortified foods like eggs and milk, or, even better, take a supplement of fish oil (one without vitamin A in it), Also, and I'm sure I don?t need to tell you this, take a 400microgram supplement of folic acid every day.
