Q.

Is my increased bust and smoother skin due to water?

About 6 weeks ago I gave up all caffeinated drinks - coffee, tea, coke. After the initial headaches I felt much better. I now drink a maximum of two cups of coffee per day - no more and no other caffeine. Instead I drink hot water. I am getting at least 8 cups a day - most days more than this. I''ve also been following this diet for 2 weeks and have lost a few pounds. BUT my boobs have grown!! It's not my monthly cycle as they have got bigger on average throughout my cycle. My face is also fuller - despite having lost weight. Before I stopped altogether I used to drink a huge amount of caffeine and almost no water. Could my increased bust and younger looking face be attributed to better hydration??! Thanks! Tina [:D]

Our expert says...

Hi Tina,

Well done on reducing caffeine, which can be hard to do! A withdrawal headache is quite normal and, as you found out, if you persevere it does soon pass. Limiting caffeine that is drunk (and eaten in chocolate!) is much better for your health.

Water has many vital functions in the body and is essential for maintaining optimum health. However, I have to say that I have never heard of it growing boobs before!! I am less surprised that you say your face looks younger, as your skin will be plump and well hydrated, giving it a youthful glow. This will be particularly noticeable if, as you say, you drank a lot of dehydrating caffeine before and very little water. However, I don't think this can account for your increased bust, so that may have to remain a mystery!

In an attempt to persuade others to increase their water intake, these are some of the other benefits of keeping well hydrated:

? Many nutrients dissolve in water so they can be easily absorbed during digestion.

? Water can help reduce constipation and improve digestion.

? Water is an important component of blood, which is needed to transport hormones, chemicals and nutrients to all parts of your body.

? Many of your cells' biochemical processes need to take place in water - including metabolising fat!

? Water carries waste material away from your cells to your kidneys for elimination.

? Water absorbs and transports heat, helping maintain your body's temperature.

Perhaps I need to add to this list the latest benefit that you have found??. Bigger boobs may be the best incentive yet!
