Q.

How do I measure portions of butter, HP Sauce & Mayo?

Can you tell me what 10g of butter looks like? Is about a teaspoonful? And 15g of brown sauce or mayonaise? I dont have acurate enough scales to weigh things like this and I want to get a feel for how much I can have! Rachel

Our expert says...

For spreads, dressings and oils, I would recommend that you invest in some cooks measuring spoons. I have included a link for Lakeland below although you can purchase them from anywhere with a decent homeware department for under £5:

5g butter is approx. 1 level teaspoon. 15g brown sauce or mayo is a tablespoon (which is bigger than a dessert spoon).

Another tip is to buy the 1 cal spray oil - which comes in sunflower, olive or rape seed oil. It is much easier to control how much you are dispensing and therefore an easy way to cut calories in home-prepared recipes..

I hope this is useful.

Kind regards

Vicky
