How can I adapt low fat meals for all the family?

Help! I have 3 children aged between 5 and 12. My 2 youngest (both boys) are super skinny. How do I cook a low fat meal for the family without compromising my children's growing needs?

Hi Thanks for your interesting enquiry. I?d say that as long as the meals you are cooking are naturally low in fat rather than low fat through the use of lots of artificially reduced fat foods (low fat cheese, one cal-style frying oils etc., there?s nothing to worry about as long as you give the boys plenty of higher calorie snacks like peanut butter, fruit cake, hummus etc., You could also change the accompaniment you give with their meals -so where as you might have a baked potato they could have oven chips for example, and whereas you night have pasta with a tomato sauce, they could have it with pesto etc. Often kids are natural skinny so, don?t worry too much, As long as they are obviously growing and thriving and have plenty of energy there's nothing to worry about!
