Are Slim Fast shakes any good?

1) Hello
I've tried replacing 1 or 2 of my meals with a slimfast shake, are these any good? Sometimes the more I eat, even though I'm full, I keep picking and carry on eating so having a shake was a good way to stop me wanting food. would I be better having meals again as I'm now on here and counting calories and see how I do? Or is 1 or 2 shakes not a bad idea? Been trying to lose 4st the last 2 years with no success, mainly my own fault as I do give up when I don't notice a sudden change then binge. I really want to find something that works? Please help !

Slimfast shakes and other similar meal replacements are nutritionally balanced and now accepted by the medial and dietetic professions as a safe and acceptable way to lose weight. For very busy people in particular, or those who find it difficult to control themselves around food, they can be a helpful way to stay in control way whilst you slim, especially in the beginning stages. However, getting bored is a problem, and, also, in the longer term, there is the concern that by relying on meal replacements you don?t really address the issue of choosing healthier foods, or learn how to have a good psychological relationship with food.

I?d usually therefore recommend that meal replacements are only a short term measure, whilst you lean to get to grips with proper eating! The benefit of this site is the feeling of control you get from the knowledge that if you stay within your calories, you will lose weight.

Whether you decide to continue with the meal replacements or eat proper food, you can benefit form this site either way. Good luck!
