Sarah's story
What was your start weight, your current weight, how much weight have you lost, and how long did it take?
Start weight – 14st 1lb. Current weight – 10st 1lb. I lost the first 3st in 5 months; 7 months later, I lost another st (4st in total).
Was there something that prompted your decision to lose weight?
I decided 1 year ago that I wanted to lose 3 stone before my 50th birthday (May 2026).
How easy was it to fit the changes you made into your lifestyle?
I don't feel this has been hard for me in any way, as I have a great mindset and determination. If I crave something, I have it and count it in my calories. I have a cheat meal (sometimes a cheat day if I need it!).
What was the most challenging aspect of your weight loss journey, and how did you overcome this?
I have not found it challenging either as I have been seeing great results and health benefits.
How do you feel since losing the weight, i.e. any mindset or health improvements?
Losing this weight has really helped with my peri-menopause symptoms. I have more energy, motivation, and better moods. I feel confident, more positive, don’t feel sluggish, I sleep better, and my skin feels healthier and looks better.
Do you have any non-scale victories you would like to share?
I have lost inches and had to buy a new wardrobe as my clothes no longer fit. I’ve learned to choose healthier options when eating out, and fasting has taught me to only eat when I’m hungry. I have also gained muscle tone.
How did you feel the app supported you - were there any specific features you found helpful?
The app has given me great support because you can scan everything, add your own recipes, add your exercise to know what calories you have earnt to decide if you want to go in deficit, track your weight progress each week (I weigh once a week).
What does weight maintenance look like for you now?
Along with the app and fasting, I exercised, walking 3 miles 3–4 times a week. I started weight classes, my walking miles gradually went up to 5 miles 3–4 times a week, and I did heavier weights.
What advice would you give to anyone who has weight to lose?
From my personal experience, your head needs to be in the right place. Feel determined, don’t give up, use the app without fail, and be consistent with calories and exercise (use fasting if it works for you). If you have a bad day, brush it off and start again the next day with a positive outlook.
