How much weight have you lost and how long did it take?

I lost 17kg's in total over about 20 weeks.

What prompted your decision to lose weight?

I had always been around the 92kg mark but had found myself pushing 95kg's so felt that I needed to do something about it. I had been running regularly for about 6 months but this wasn't impacting on my weight.

How did you hear about Nutracheck?

My wife brought me a smart watch for Christmas which was tracking my calories burnt - I was consistently burning over 2,500 per day so wanted to understand my calorie intake. I looked in the App Store and downloaded a few different applications but found the Nutracheck ap was in a format which was simple to use and had an effective table and graphs which made it very user friendly. My first day recording my calories showed me consuming 3,500 in one day with 1,000 calories in snacks (cheese, crisps and chocolates etc.)

Has your weight stayed fairly consistent over the years, or have you always had to manage it?

My weight had always been consistent at 92kg's until recently regardless of levels of exercise. However, once I started losing weight and got down from 95kg to 90kg I still felt overweight and that I could be lighter so reset my target to 85kg. Again, once I reached that I still felt I would like to be lighter so set a 80kg target. When I started I had no specific target in mind other than getting back to my standard 92kg

How easy was it to fit the changes you made into your lifestyle?

I found it very easy. When you have a clear daily calorie limit and are seeing weekly results it keeps you motivated.

What was the most difficult thing?

The first 2 weeks I felt constantly hungry as my body was adjusting to the new diet. I found when the hunger was there having a pint of squash and an apple helped! The other thing is the temptation from others. Going out for meals and seeing everyone else with dessert isn't easy!

How do you feel now compared to before?

Much fitter and confident in myself. I am happier wearing tighter fitting clothes and trying different styles / colours now.

Any notable milestones to report?

Every time I dropped a clothes size - going from wearing extra large / 38 inch waist to small / 32 inch feels great.

What 3 tips would you give to anyone who has weight to lose?

  1. Weigh and record everything - if you aren't doing this accurately then you won't get a true count of what you are consuming.
  2. Replace sugary/fatty snacks with fruit and water/sugar free squash, it definitely helps with the hunger pains and after a few weeks the hunger goes.
  3. Throw out any bad foods you may have in the house - I started just after Christmas and had lots of leftovers, crisps, chocolates, cheeses etc. lying around. Don't give in to temptation.
