How much weight have you lost and how long did it take?

I've lost exactly 5st70lbs31.7kg from the 31st March 2020 to 31st October 2020

What prompted your decision to lose weight?

When the Prime Minister put us in a lockdown due to COVID-19, I was placed on furlough from work. I decided, since I had an extended period of leave, I could concentrate on losing 1-2 stone – I never expected to exceed my own expectations and goals! I also connected with an old school friend who offers nutrition advice/coaching and he supported me throughout this period.

How did you hear about Nutracheck?

Through my nutrition coach who uses the app himself and recommends it to his clients/ associates.

Has your weight stayed fairly consistent over the years, or have you always had to manage it?

My weight had been increasing since 2013 due to poor food choices and being inactive as I had an office/car-based job. I also sustained a serious knee injury which prevented me from playing football and cricket, and I gradually put on weight. The two combined meant weight gain inevitably occurred!

How easy was it to fit the changes you made into your lifestyle?

It was hard in some ways but being in lockdown gave me the opportunity to isolate myself and concentrate on getting healthier. I could focus on it and be more dedicated.

What was the most difficult thing?

Calories in and calories out is easy to get your head round as the app is very good at providing the nutritional information of foods from the major shops and restaurants. The most difficult thing was to understand nutrients and how much protein, carbs and fat I needed each day. Hence why I found it helpful to use the app in unison with a nutritionist.

How do you feel now compared to before?

Fitter, healthier and happier. I now run 7-8 miles 3 to 4 times a week – something I would have laughed at prior to March 2020 if you said I would be able to do that! My doctor has commented on how well I look, my heart and overall health have vastly improved thanks to the weight loss!

Any notable milestones to report?

The ability to run and be on a football field once again! Something I didn’t believe would happen in a million years prior to March.

What 3 tips would you give to anyone who has weight to lose?

  1. Make a change for you not someone else! Be consistent!
  2. Eating "sensibly" consistently means you can afford to treat yourself!
  3. Have a clear goal on what you want to achieve and be honest with your entries! Success can only be achieved if you are honest!
