The third week of maintenance

After two weeks of maintenance, I was faced with a bit of a problem - we were away on a fully-catered residential course (nice venue - see photo!). I think this was the first time since I changed my eating habits that we had a whole week of eating food we hadn't cooked, and I was a bit worried.

I had decided to maintain at 85kg, and the day we left I was 84.9kg. The food was pretty good but a bit what you might call hearty - in other words there was a lot of cheese, pasta, chips and pastry involved. I didn't have those but, on the other hand, there was porridge for breakfast, and plenty of no-dressing salad and no-butter-added vegetables with the main meals. I got a bit hungry in the afternoons, but I'm getting much better at ignoring being hungry and it was OK. I made sure I got some excellent 'empty calories' inside me by drinking two pints of beer every night too!

The venue was quite big, so even walking from room to room needed a fair few steps, and I managed my 10,000 steps nearly every day. And my work (conducting music groups) means standing up all the time, with a bit of jiggling around too.

Result - the first morning back at home I was 83kg, so I had lost nearly 2kg. The boss and I now think that my weight should stick to a range between 82kg and 85kg. So as 83kg is getting towards the bottom limit, we went out this morning and bought some nuts (and I had a few in my lunchtime salad). And this evening we are going to have some garlic bread (until now we have only had that about once a month). I can do this!!

Steve lost a massive 10st with Nutracheck. He now regularly writes about how he maintains his weight loss.
