Calorie value of paddock maintenance

Hi, I hope you can help me with a rough idea of the calorie expenditure of poo picking horse pasture using a long handled poo-picker and pan, and loading into a 140L wheelbarrow, then pushing this to the muck heap to empty. Distance to muck heap minimum of 40metres. One of my fields is flat, the other is uphill! I would like to add this to my exercise, as I do this as an extra, over and above my normal activities. I shall soon be bringing in and mucking out a stable, any info on that would also be appreciated, as this is a winter only activity and I would like to offset some extra calories in the form of seasonal fare ;-) Many thanks

If you have a smaller and weigh less, you will burn fewer calories and if you are taller and weigh more then you will burn more calories.

Mucking-Out 20 minutes = 160 calories burned

Unload and Stack Hay Bales 20 minutes = 250 calories burned

Unload and Stack Straw Bales 20 minutes = 180 calories burned

Carrying Feed Bags (20kg) 30 minutes = 155 calories burned

Emptying A Full Wheelbarrow (walking briskly) 5 minutes = 30 calories burned

Sweeping The Yard 30 minutes = 110 calories burned

Vigorously groom your horse (body/dandy brush) 10 minutes = 45 calories burned

Vigorously groom your horse (curry comb removing dead hair) 10 minutes = 70 calories burned

Hand-Walk Your Horse (walking briskly) 20 minutes = 90 calories burned

Riding your Horse In Walk 20 minutes = 60 calories burned

Riding y our Horse In Working Trot (rising) 20 minutes = 150 calories burned

Riding Your Horse In Canter 20 minutes = 190 calories burned

Lunging Your Horse 20 minutes = 115 calories burned

The more energetically you perform these tasks, the more calories you’ll burn.  If you are doing that every day, that sounds like a great form of exercise!

Hope this helps!
