Saying within calories but eating lots of sugar!

Hi Janet, I am sticking to my weight loss target of 1400 calories a day but love sugary food. Will eating too much sugar stop me losing weight? Thanks [:)]

Thanks for your message.

If you are within your calorie target of 1400 calories per day you should continue to lose weight, however we would always advise that you aim to follow a healthy and balanced diet as far as possible. Although sugar has not been directly linked to weight gain, sweet and sugary foods tend to be those that also contain fat, or that are foods that we just can't stop eating, so it's worthwhile cutting back a little on sugary foods where you can. Try and make swaps for lower sugar versions of your favourites, or just eat smaller portions or have them less frequently. Any step you make towards a healthier and more balanced diet will help in your weight loss goals.
