Q.

How do I go about starting to get my new body for 2008?

1. Hiya, i was just wondering how I go about starting to get my new body for 2008? I have had my gallbladder removed some years ago, and I did lose three stone in weight being on diet pills and doing yo-yo dieting, but they don't work any more, I also have a vitamin B12 deficiency and have to take tablets everyday for that and also tablets for my stomach to stop me for being very bloated. Any help and advice will be grateful.

Hi, and thanks for your question which I'm sure reflects what many of us are wondering at this time of year! Firstly, congratulations on finding your way to this site, which we feel (speaking modestly of course!) can revolutionise a person?s approach to weight loss especially if they have been used to trying every fad diet for years on end. Essentially, here you will find everything you need to you lose weight gradually and keep it off - a personalised daily calorie and fat allowance and a daily food diary which you fill in with everything you eat. As long as you keep within the calorie figures we give you, you will lose weight. But the good thing is that you?ll learn a lot as you go - which foods are the ones that fill you up but don?t fatten, easy ways to make sure you get your 5 a day fruit and veg, and so on. Because you decide what to eat, you can save back calories for your favourite treats, and as you measure your activity levels as well, the whole package should help you in making the lifestyle choices you need.

You can also prepare yourself mentally at the beginning of a new year by making your environment more conducive to your weight loss success. This might include clearing out your cupboards, researching some low fat recipes and writing a weekly shopping list. If you still feel ambivalent towards losing weight, or like it's just too hard for you at the moment, write down your own weight loss pros and cons (e.g. ?pros? could be looking better and having more energy, while ?cons? might be missing bacon sarnies or having to make time for a daily walk. If the pros outweigh the cons, then it's the right place and time to lose weight. If there are mor cons than pros maybe this isn't the right time and you need to think harder about how you can motivate yourself.
