Help - I have lost the plot with dieting!

I have just signed up for the trial period. I know I have to lose weight, I know I must change the way I eat, but after years of trying different diets I am still getting fatter - I know this is down to me and not the diets. I always find that I either forget to keep a food diary up to date or am travelling for work and don't know the calorie value of something or am hungry so snack on junk because that is what is available. Yes, I know I am making excuses but I feel that I have lost the plot completely - can you help me?

Hi and welcome to Nutracheck.

Well, you may feel you have wasted years on different diets, all to no avail, but it sounds to me like you have learnt from your mistakes and know where you have gone wrong. So the main question is how are you going to put it right and avoid the previous pitfalls?

Well, I think you will find Nutracheck quite different. As you have joined for a trial period, you have already received your personal goals, but you probably haven't yet found the many support tools to help you achieve these. The food diary and calorie counter (which has over 30,000 UK foods in it) plus the 5-a-day, water, alcohol and exercise monitors are hard to miss. But have you tried the food swap section to find healthier, lower calorie options? You can always check after you have eaten something and least you will know for next time! Have you seen the meal and recipe suggestions in the forums and did you know that you can calorie count your own recipes too?

It sounds like you are on the go quite a bit. In which case, you may wish to try our mobile phone download, which is a food diary and calorie counter program - ideal for you if you want to keep track when you are out and about. Our Slimmer of the Year, Denise Green, used the mobile program a lot - she would plan in advance what she wanted to eat and enter it into her mobile, and keep track of how many calories she had to play with. It is free to try for 5 days, so you can see how you get on first before paying the one off £4.99 charge.

And then there is Nutracheck?s member?s forum and team of experts, all ready and waiting to help you find the plot again!

I would think of this as a new start, draw on your past experiences, then put them behind you, and join the Nutracheck community with a positive attitude and a determination to do well. Good luck! We are all rooting for you!
