Advice on eating a 'clean' diet

Hi I've heard a lot about clean eating and was unsure as to what it is and how you go about it? Many thanks for your help as I'm very interested in becoming more healthy in general.

The 'Eat Clean' diet is one that encourages people to use 'from scratch' cooking and natural ingredients to provide a healthy balance in their lives. To be honest it's just following the principles of healthy eating - choosing lean proteins, fruit and veg, complex carbohydrates (wholegrains, brown rice etc), pulses and seeds etc.

If you are looking for some help to follow a healthier diet then it might be interesting for you to read the Eat Clean book (the website unfortunately doesn't give much detail!), however following the general principles of healthy eating along with a calorie reduction will have the same effect, and there's no complicated plan to follow.

Try and eat at regular intervals using about 20% of your calories at breakfast time, 30% at lunch, 30% at dinner and around 20% for snacks during the day. Choose complex carbohydrates such as wholemeal pasta, wholegrain bread, brown rice, potatoes with skins on etc, lean protein like chicken and fish, and plenty of fruit and vegetables.
