Good foods to eat after an operation?

Hello Angela, I'm due to have an operation on Monday for a shoulder impingement. Could you please give me advice on good foods that will help me recover/repair after my operation? Thanks in advance, Eve.

Hi Eve

Thanks for your question and I hope all goes really well next week - I'm sure it will.

As far as recovering after an operation is concerned, some of the key nutrients I would suggest are zinc,  vitamin C and good quality protein, all of which help with efficient wound repair. A generally balanced and healthy diet will help to provide these, but you might want to focus particularly  on including lean red meats, fish and poultry as well as nuts, seeds and of course plenty of good old fruit and veg!

I hope this helps,

Best wishes

Angela
