Can I eat more during my period?

Hello, Just wondering if we really are allowed to eat more during a period, and if so, how much, as some websites say 500cals, and others say 200cals

Our expert says...

Unfortunately to keep your weight loss on track you?ll need to resist the urge to allow yourself 200 or 500 extra calories during your period. It is true for many women that they are hungrier in the week or so leading up to their period, but if you can, the way to deal with this is to eat smaller meals and snacks spread throughout the day, and plenty of bulky fruits and vegetables and water to keep yourself full. You can adjust your calories to have a few extra on the days when you know you?ll be really craving, but it means you?ll have to pay back on other days. Exercising when you have your period (yes, I know you really don't feel like it sometimes!) can really help to get you out of the doldrums and fight food cravings. Hope this helps you manage to stay on track!
